We’re Behind You, Amanda!

mar-08.JPGAmanda is one of the reasons KTBS gets behind St. Jude.  She’s undergoing PreOp this afternoon and will have surgery in the morning.

Amanda’s father is “G” on this site.  These are his words (plenty enough to make me buy a dream home ticket, even though I can’t qualify to win the home because I work at KTBS):

NW Louisiana has a large number of children fighting for their lives and this is so in my life right now that I just started to cry… like a parent that might outlive their child.  Ok… getting my composure back.  On that note, I would like for you all to take a look at Amanda’s last journal entry on her caring bridge site… www.caringbridge.org/visit/amandabell I ended it with her having a good day!  Well, she has been sick the last 2 days and Mikey Kuhr can attest… if she is not getting sick the poison is not doing what it is supposed to be doing.  Feel free to subscribe to journal updates, I have not been the best at that so you will only get an email every 3 to 5 days.

I know there are a million other causes out there and St Jude is just but one, but it is my passion at the moment.  Amanda’s biopsy was over $20k, her limb sparing surgery was in excess of $100k, her chemo is expensive and tacked on to that are $3500 dollar shots (per shot).  When here and admitted to LSUHSC for a fever, nearly $8000 for the 3 day weekends she has stayed (apiece).  I don’t want to beat this… but every bit of this is paid for through donations, gifts, and fund raisers!  St Jude’s budget is over a million per day!  Just think it over, this is a win-win situation for you, our community, and these kids!

could go on… but I have to go to work… Gonna make it simple… http://www.ktbs.com/layouts/KTBS-3-St.-Jude-Dream-Home

gratefully, Greg

ps please forward as you see fit :)

As a cancer survivor I know everything is possible!

Plus, she couldn’t be at a better place. I’ve been to St. Jude many times and it’s got to be the best in the world!
(Plus they have Starbucks, how great is that?!)

  4. George Says:

Amanda is an amazing girl and, although we don’t know how, we know God will bless her with his love and grace. Mike Kuhr can certainly attest to that and, Mel, it sounds like you have been blessed as well!!!!

    G, enjoyed our visit!!!!!!!!!

  5. Mel Says:

So how the did the surgery go?

  6. Sherri Says:

G’s flying on the east coast today. Maybe he’ll let us know tonight.

  7. G Says:

we actually landed! Amanda’s surgery went well, she is resting and will most likely be in ICU for about 3 days… she actually likes it there! They had no problems removing the 4 larger nodules that were showing on her scans and removed an additional 4 smaller ones.

The doc’s seem to be pleased with the result and there should be biopsy results in about a week. I am still on base and will update the caring bridge soon! thanks all, Greg

  8. Sherri Says:

That’s great! Let us know about the biopsy results, G.
