Wanted: Your Short Story Skillz
CT had it when it came to throwin’ out a good short story. This is a picture of CT (he’s the one on the right) at about the age when this story was written. Here you go.
“Turkey Talk by Chris Talley
If I were a turkey and were going to be eaten, I would run to the airport and get in a DC-10 and go to Russia to hide.”
That’s it. Straight talk. Brief. You get what he’s trying to say, even with just one sentence. A man of few words.Â

Turkey Talk was published in The Atlantic Monthly. It was also credited as the inspiration for Reagan’s “Tear Down This Wall” speech.

Dude that’s Bowser the Scnauzer. Most loyal dog I ever had. A little too loyal…he used to bite all my friends. The other one is my brother…not quite as loyal, but a good brother non-the-less.

…..just cuz CT wouldnt bite your friends dosent mean he wasnt loyal,i bet he would’a put your friends in a figure four leg lock.

It’s not fair…Bowser was kicked by some neighborhood punks and that made him distrust strangers. I remember standing in the den in my high school grad. cap and gown and Bowser tearing through the screen on the window after me because he didn’t know who I was.
