Track ‘Em Down!
It’s the world’s oldest annual marathon.  Several runners in the ArkLaTex qualified this year for The Boston Marathon.   Joe Haynes (KTBS 3 Meteorologist) and Suzie Talley (former Shreveporter, commenter on this site, my sister) are among them.
The race begins Monday morning and you can track Joe and Suzie every 5K (3.1 miles via satellite chips on their ankles). Here’s how:
Log in and enter their names or bib numbers.  The face of the Boston Marathon web site will change on race day (Monday) and the process on how to enter the search will be clear.
Joe is in Wave 1. Start time: 10:00 a.m. EST–Enter either “Joesph Haynes” or bib # 4002
Suzie is in Wave 2. Start time: 10:30 a.m. EST–Enter either “Suzie Talley Moore” or bib # 15834
This is a tough 26.2 mile race! How cool it’ll be for Joe and Suzie to read your words of encouragement.
During the race, HRB, CT and I will also jump in with comments under this post as we track Joe and Suzie live. Join us!  It’s sort of like being there to cheer them on.  See you here for the race Monday morning.  Â

Hey Sher, besides Joe & Suz, I had to mention the other locals that I know of out in Bean Town! Joe managed to bring Sandra along and I believe she is in the running also? Lots of work to even qual for Boston so congrats to all for making it and good luck tomorrow
Jim Balfe
Kevin Cook
Denise Cook
Wallace Robertson
Lanka Pankey
Tony Bouso
Ryan Patton
Frank Bright
by the way, Tony is trying to pull off 2 “Cyco” weekends in a row; he did IronMan Arizona last weekend!
April 20th, 2008 at 1:44 pm
Thanks, G! I was wondering about the others. Congrats to all for qualifying and to Tony for being such a psycho animal. If you want, drive people who know these folks to this site to leave messages for them to read after the race. Anyone know of others in the 2008 Boston Marathon? Let us know. I thought Sandra Haynes was injured. So glad to see she made it!
April 20th, 2008 at 2:17 pm
still not sure if Sandra is running but she is there… left off Laura Nanda from the above list.
April 20th, 2008 at 2:24 pm
Laura! Cool marathon mom! She’s a tough competitor!
April 20th, 2008 at 3:09 pm
Good luck, brave hearts!!!
Apparently it’s going to be cloudy with a slight breeze and temps in the low 50s, rising to about 60 by the afternoon.
BTW, when do you “hit the wall”? Somewhere around mile 17 or 18 is what I’ve heard.
April 20th, 2008 at 5:20 pm
I can’t even run to my desk without getting winded!
You’re my idols Suzie and Joe!
You guys rock!
Good Luck!!!!!
April 20th, 2008 at 5:26 pm
think we are getting the final tally or is it Talley? Steve Terese is also there… believe that is 13 peeps. Tony said he will try to get a group picture if they can pull it off.
April 20th, 2008 at 5:54 pm
should have just done a search in the first place! Went to the participants list and found what I assume to be the last 2 locals? I do not know this couple but they are Lisa and Robert Walter both age 41 from Shreveport

April 20th, 2008 at 6:20 pm
From what I’ve heard, you hit the wall at Boston at the same time a steep four mile incline begins. For some, the spectators pull them through.
April 20th, 2008 at 8:46 pm
Good luck to everyone in Boston. Big Joe - I hope you have a great run tomorrow - I want to be just like you when I get big!!! Sandra, hope you got thru your injury and can run too.
Tony B., Team Cyco could not have sent a better representative - be careful though, so you don’t scratch up that new IM tattoo!!!!
Margarita’s to all from Sears upon your return!!!!
April 20th, 2008 at 10:05 pm
G, will you ask Steve to forward the team pic to stalley@ktbs.com?
To all of our peeps: Go get it!
April 20th, 2008 at 10:50 pm
Latte… TB’s tat is the size of a postage stamp according to Mc; so not likely that it will get smudged or scratched. Will forward the pic your way if TB sends it out.
April 20th, 2008 at 10:55 pm
Wait, you mean, Ironman race, tatt and marathon all in about a week? How much pain can one person endure?
April 20th, 2008 at 11:10 pm
Good luck Joe and Suzie, I wish you both the best. Oh and just a little hint about my running…if you ever see me running down the street, please shoot the dog chasing me so I can stop.
April 21st, 2008 at 6:58 am

Thanks, Nacho.
They’re almost off.
Has anyone seen the Boston Marathon home page face change yet? Still watching it.
How long do you think it’ll take Joe to get to the start of the race?
Watching Robert Cheruiyot! I read somewhere that violence in Kenya disrupted his training. His is an amazing story.

April 21st, 2008 at 11:33 am
Nacho, will you help keep a “Running Talley” ha…of all our local athletes? We’ll do a post with final times when everyone’s in.
At what point along the route is Wellesley College? Suzie says the students there really motivate her.
April 21st, 2008 at 11:51 am
You can hear the roar of the ladies at the 11 mile mark and once you get there it is just about single file. It is the hightlight of the run. Too bad they aren’t at the top of Heartbreak Hill.
April 21st, 2008 at 12:21 pm
Suzie’s about 15 miles in with an 8:46 pace.
Leo, didn’t they push all the students to just one side of the route recently?
April 21st, 2008 at 12:24 pm
Suzie’s slowed now to a 9:03 pace. Hope she’s okay. She ran Marine Corp this summer with a kidney stone. Ouch!
April 21st, 2008 at 12:27 pm
lunch was good! Just did a check, some are celebrating and some are almost there! Will check back later, gonna ride the bike home and do the dog transfer… anyone want a RedHealer? She gets along with cats just fine
April 21st, 2008 at 12:54 pm
TB’s almost finished. Joe got in with 3:17. Thanks, G. I don’t have much luck with dogs.
April 21st, 2008 at 1:06 pm
Just finished my lunch run. I’ll check them all in just a minute.

CT–Suzie’s finished!
Nice work, Nacho!
I’ll do a final post on this site when I get to work in a few minutes and we’ll have something on the news tonight. Maybe these folks will provide us with some entertaining race reports!
