The Humility of it All!

p1000292.jpg

I’m working on trying to get some signs put up around work that encourage people to be nicer to people who commute to work on their bikes.  Any ideas?  Maybe something like, “People on two wheels need love, too.”  If you think some news scripts torn into shreds and taped to my handlebars to look like streamers are going to keep me from being environmentally and economically conscious, well…just…just…think again.   Yeah.  That.

You’ve probably seen these Share The Road yard signs around town.  Ian Webb at River City Cycling and Fitness bought a bunch for $10 each and is selling them to anyone for $5 each.   You can also get commuter tips here.

how about: “bike riding, its good enough for hazel and jimmy…you should try it.”

  2. sherri Says:

I like it, Kimmy! Especially since no one has ever seen Hazel and Jimmy from the waist down.

I’m surprised you didn’t put H & J on the bike in this picture!

  5. PK Says:

Cyclists - Give them an inch - so they can take a mile.

  6. PK Says:

Be nice to cyclists - they are leaving more oil for the rest of us.

  7. Sherri Says:

    PK, those are excellent!!!

  8. Mel Says:

Slow down for bikers so you can get a better look at the guys in those tight little shorts!

  9. HRB Says:

Mel, men in bike shorts is wrong.

  10. Mel Says:

Well, you get a look at everything’s that right! (or left, do you know when you get fitted for a bike they ask which way it hangs!) Bits of wisdom I’ve picked up from Ian.

  11. sherri Says:

That’s one of the most interesting bits of trivia I’ve ever heard!

  12. Mel Says:

    It’s true! Ask Ian!

The camera is panned out on Youree Drive in the middle of rush hour. In the distance the viewer can see a cyclist. As the cyclist gets closer, the viewer realizes that it is Sherri. The KTBS announcer says, “Please don’t take Sherri off the air - Share The Road with Sherri.”

  14. Sherri Says:

    “Sher The Road”

  15. AJW Says:

    Do it on two wheels?

  16. sherri Says:

Didn’t ride my bike to work today and not surprisingly, got just as much ridicule for that as I did wheelin’ in on just two wheels yesterday! Anyway, shot a story at my house until 4:15pm. (It airs Sunday night at 10pm.) That didn’t leave me enough time to bike to work and prep for the 5:00 news, so I drove and hauled in my car about seven on-air ensembles! I’m always thinkin’! That way, I don’t have to stuff clothes in my ’saddlebags’…I can change when I get there.

A guy I know, Mike Cook, bought an armoir to put at his workplace. In it, he can have his clothes and other stuff to get refreshed for work after bike commuting there.

I’m seeing what a process this is. It’s a serious effort.

Talked to CT, who bought a Prius before economy was cool. CT rocks. Not just because he’s my bro. He just rocks.

WRyker, Ian didn’t sell me one of those bikes. :(

Went to River City yesterday to look at bikes. Looked at road bikes and commuter bikes and then the subject of Sherri’s bike came up. It went something like this.

PK: How much is a bike like Sherri’s

Salesman: Sir, are you talking about the SheTa

    PK: I guess.

Salesman: Sir, if you have to ask you can not afford it.
