That is none of your business! :)
Most weekend days, my friends (yes, I have some) and family email each other just to say what we’re doing. Then, we sometimes report back on what we’ve done, like it was some big job assignment. Want to play?
I can’t wait to get outside today. I don’t even know what for. I just want to go outside and play. I don’t want to waste this weather. Just paid bills. Will probably plant stuff. Later, trying to entice my son home from college with chicken on the grill. What are you doing?
If you don’t want to play, I went ahead and typed your response in the title. That way you don’t even have to respond. I’m on your side like that.

April 6th, 2008 at 10:52 am
I have 3 dogs. That’s all the motivation I need to go outside today. “outside” is their second favorite word.
April 6th, 2008 at 11:02 am
What’s the first?
April 6th, 2008 at 11:41 am
Well, let’s see…
Yesterday morning, I helped a friend pull carpet out of an old pediatric office in preparation for an upcoming non-profit animal rescue/spay and neuter facility. Then I cut paneling for the bathroom in another friend’s rental house. Today, I’ll get out and do some yardwork and maybe a little shopping at Lowe’s. I deserve to reward myself with a new tool.
Since the kids are coming home today, we’ll either watch a movie, go out to eat or play Guitar Hero. Whatever they feel like doing, I guess.
I know, I know. I’m Mr. Excitement.
April 6th, 2008 at 12:19 pm
Yesterday, I went grocery shopping w/ HT at Publix, then watched American Gangster on PPV. It rained all day here. Today we went to church at St. Catherine’s here in Chelsea and now I am putting our new patio/deck umbrella together.
I am livin’ la Vida Loca.
April 6th, 2008 at 12:41 pm
Do you have enough chicken for everyone? Jennifer and I don’t have any dinner plans! (hint hint) After I do some yard work and clean the pool we can pick up some potato salad and baked beans and be at your house…say around 6pm?
If I dont hear from you then I take that as a yes! Oh and I like white meat, Jennifer likes the dark meat!
April 6th, 2008 at 12:45 pm
I just finished a 26 mile bike ride with a killer headwind, during which I took a time out to watch them do some filming downtown for about a half-hour. I’m not sure what they’re filming and didn’t see anybody worth noting.
After a shower/lunch run a few errands then check out the R.W. Norton Art Gallery. Went by there yesterday but everyone was there taking prom/graduation pictures or both and didn’t feel comfortable and a bit out of place.
Later, I plan to check out the new George Clooney film followed by the “Nature” special on PBS and the completion to Masterpiece Theater’s “Sense and Sensibility” granted it’s not James Joyce but Jane Austen did have her moments.
April 6th, 2008 at 12:50 pm
1)Mets at Braves followed by…
2)Dodgers at Padres followed by…
3)ChiSox at Tigers
With occasional glances at: Red Sox at Blue Jays, Rays at Yankees, Astros at Cubs, Giants at Brewers.
Also, tonight the LSU Lady Tigers take on the Tennessee Lady Vols in the Women’s Final Four.
After all that, I’ll probably contemplate the nature of the Good for 30 to 45 minutes.
After that….sleep
April 6th, 2008 at 1:05 pm
I’m with you, bc317, am watching Smoltz V Santana as we speak. After this, or maybe during this, utilizing the PAUSE button, gonna pick up a few Superior Salads to go.
Need to do some laundry, pay a few bills, might walk a couple of the dogs. The grass is still too wet to mow. (good excuse, right?) Brookshires has those giant Boston ferns on for 9.99 so might run over there for a minute.
Yesterday, we had a baby shower for my nephew and his wife who are having their first. That’s a happy story as he received a kidney transplant, donated by my sister, about 4 years ago and after years of kidney disease and meds, they told him he might not be able to father kids. Not so, they are having a baby boy in about two weeks. On a very unhappy note, we found out yesterday that my brother’s brain tumor has returned and they are giving him less than a year. That SUCKS.
April 6th, 2008 at 1:47 pm
Cooking in the kitchen. Love the smell of dinner in the house on Sundays. May walk later. Couple of cocktails. Bed.
April 6th, 2008 at 1:48 pm
MaryS910, I’m so sorry to hear about your brother.
WRyker, where did you bike?
jchristie, you deserve Lowe’s!
bc317, just and idea, but you could consider watching some baseball today.
Yikes! Forgot the Braves were on! Thank you!
Sparky, you an Jennifer are welcome. The wifey will have to bring her own dark meat…all I have are four chicken breasts, three baked potatoes and some vegetables.
Mary, thanks for the Brookshire’s tip.
Just ran six miles. Stopped twice. Once to say hi to Mel, then because I couldn’t stop laughing when I thought of CT calling into a national radio show to talk about how Feng Shui helped calm him after being raped by a wombat.
April 6th, 2008 at 1:48 pm
rt can cook!
April 6th, 2008 at 2:25 pm
I’ll probably be the only one on here to say this, but it’s race day in Texas and it’s a gorgeous day and I’m not there! Ugh! I’m at work! Should be at Texas Motor Speedway, but instead, I’m at work. Oh well, at least being at work I can make money instead of spending it at TMS.
April 6th, 2008 at 2:29 pm
im cutting grass, weedeating, killing fireants, and watching NASCAR. im in touch with my inner redneck today.
i did two days on the movie that WRyker watched downtown. they are filming the chase scenes for BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT, staring michael douglas. ole mike went back to california a few weeks ago and this is the 2nd unit filming now. we did chase and car wrecks yesterday. today was supposed to be a big wreck and explosion. it was kinda spooky walking down the sidewalk as stunt drivers careen around you and crash. my hobby in retirement is being a movie extra, or as i like to say… “background actor.”
i’ve been in a dozen or so but my best performances were in BLOND AMBITION, (construction worker) and SOUL MEN where i play a new york police officer escorting samuel l. jackson thru a throng of screaming groupies at the municipal auditorium.
April 6th, 2008 at 2:55 pm
I was MAULED by a wombat Sherri. Big difference.
As Sunday unfolds, the deck umbrella is now up and functional. Getting ready to watch “We Own the Night” on PPV then cook some salmon on my fancy new grill. HT is making zucchini & mushroom salad.
April 6th, 2008 at 3:08 pm

April 6th, 2008 at 3:24 pm
Jay, yeah…beautiful days like this have to bring back memories for Eric Speed’s family. We’re with you guys.
Normally I might deliver, but I plan on having a glass of Spanish wine grillside. I’ll be in for the night once the grillin’ starts.

April 6th, 2008 at 4:13 pm
CT-Salmon on the grill with vegetables is quite possibly the healthiest food choices available. Good job.
My dogs first favorite word is “Eat”. Mine too.
April 6th, 2008 at 4:16 pm
Jay, if I call 9-1-1, will you deliver from the grill?
April 6th, 2008 at 4:20 pm
sorry we only deliver wet stuff for the red stuff…that means we’d spray some water on some fire –fireboy talk
April 6th, 2008 at 4:26 pm
Yesterday wanted to bike, wanted to go to a tri party, wanted wanted wanted… ended up taking prom pictures of my middle one then drove to Center TX so my daugher could watch her best friend compete in the Ms Teen Shelby County Pageant… was worth the drive to see my daughter smile so much at seeing her friend get the tiara! Got pulled over on Hwy 79 smiled and got a warning (my cruise was set at just under 75 and when I checked out what he wrote on the warning, “over 85 mph” he needs his equipment checked!). Today… blew off the morning 10 miler again, wanted to ride and didn’t! Did however get outside to mow, rake, and power wash… Showered and shaved… soon will be flippin burgers. Daugher is off to Memphis for bout 10 days starting tomorrow so I will hopefully score some kid points.
April 6th, 2008 at 4:37 pm
G–wonder if you bike with WRyker? Can’t reveal identities here…but y’all should ask around.
Cannot stay inside! Seriously, days don’t get any beter than this! Getting ready to fire up the grill.
Jay, hope I can keep the fire contained to the grill. Grillgirl talk.
April 6th, 2008 at 4:53 pm
Ha! By the looks of Spuffy, she’ll be having 2 or 3 more cheeseburgers?!? My goodness..! ^ ^

April 6th, 2008 at 4:56 pm
Jody no one feels sorry for you…you NEED to work and pick up some slack. When you start working and carrying the load like Sherri then we might feel sorry for you…but I doubt it!
April 6th, 2008 at 5:00 pm
Sherri you need to have a virtual BBQ and invite all of us Tallywackers. That way since its virtual you really dont have to cook but the thought would be greatly appreciated!
On your side!
April 6th, 2008 at 5:11 pm
I don’t care what anyone says, NASCAR is not all redneck. And Jody, I don’t feel sorry for you, I’m working too. Hey G, come visit my blog, newsteamtexas.com and let me know about the Shelby County pageant! Love to hear anything Texas!
NEWSTEAMTEXAS.COM
And Sparky, I’m disappointed you haven’t joined my blog, come visit it, then come back to Sherri’s.
April 6th, 2008 at 5:21 pm
Yeah, G and Sparky…Texasnewsgirl has a topic on the show Dallas!
In Jody’s defense, Sparky, she works weekends…there’s something that works on your mind with that shift…I know. But thanks for takin’ my side!

The Bike Route:
From the Sci-Port Discovery Center to that park (I forget the name) It’s the one that’s across the river from the Century Tel Plaza and then back to the Sci-Port Discovery Center is ten miles.
Then from Sci-Port to Sam’s Town you turn left on Fannin Street to Commerce and then up Travis Street to that pretty Church at the top of Texas Street and then back to Sci-Port is another three miles.
You merely repeat the route. There are a lot of great places to stop along the way (the water fountains at the Barnwell Center, the Gazebo at the Stoner Boat Launch, etc…)
Thanks Tommy for the info regarding the movie. It’s too bad I didn’t see any crashes or explosions that would have been cool. Perhaps they were still setting up and getting their camera angles ready when I showed up.
If you like George Clooney movies then I would recommend seeing “Leatherheads”. I would have been disappointed if I had paid full price and the movie has some lame duck issues.
Stopped by the R.W. Norton Art Gallery and apparently today was the day everyone was doing wedding photos. It was funny watching them all try to get the perfect shot from different locations and angles while trying to appear original compared to the others that were there trying to get the perfect shot. It was like some unspoken competition.
April 6th, 2008 at 7:00 pm
Hey I worked weekends for a long time too! I had to get away because working with Jody 2 days a week was unbearable! Its nothing like working with Sherri though. I work with her 5 days a week and she never gets on my nerves…so you can imagine how Jody is after only 2 days! Maybe Sherri you can take Jody aside and giver her some pointers!
April 6th, 2008 at 8:52 pm
Son came in town. Wouldn’t eat burned chicken. Swiped “Into the Wild” DVD and fled to friend’s house.
April 6th, 2008 at 10:11 pm
hmm… not sure I ever rode with WRyker, but if WRyker is out there I am sure we have crossed paths. Sher, you need to break out the ol Caliente’ and get a few miles in yourself.
As for pageants in Texas or anywhere for that matter; don’t count me in as the subject matter expert! Who shot JR?
as for electric gadgets, go for the 19.2V stuff, works great
April 7th, 2008 at 7:42 am
The Caliente’ has been hanging on the wall forever. I’m nervous about clipping in since I broke my ankle. I’ve been thinking about it, though.
April 7th, 2008 at 8:03 am
Look at all these people without lives reading Sherri’s blog on the weekend! I know Shreveport is boring, but really. Even I had enough to keep me busy and off the internet, and I don’t like people!
April 7th, 2008 at 8:15 am
clipping in: not ideal, but loosen the clip on that side to the point where you can easily pop the shoe in and out by hand and since you haven’t been on for some time, a lil lube in the spring might be in order. If you have speed plays, do not pour oil on it!
April 7th, 2008 at 8:52 am
Hey G, that’s the easiest “Dallas” trivia question in the world (at least for me) It was Kristin Shepherd, Sue Ellen’s sister. Next question? Ha!
April 7th, 2008 at 1:48 pm
Sherri sounds like you had a good weekend. I on the other hand drove to longview to help a friend clean out her moms house. Lots and lots of stuff. Hard to motivate them since her mom past away and there’s lots of memories there. But what are friends for. We still have all closets to go thru, 4 walk in closets of size 6. Damn I need a work out schedule, it would be nice if those close fit.
April 7th, 2008 at 1:49 pm
Oh yea, I missed the Braves dadnappit! Can’t believe Andru Jones left for the Dodgers
April 7th, 2008 at 2:22 pm
Check your email, gurkles. I already TOLD you what I did this weekend.
Did you ever come INSIDE?
April 7th, 2008 at 2:42 pm
I’m never going back inside.
April 7th, 2008 at 5:42 pm
Son’s soccer tournament this past weekend in Alexandria - it’s the soccer season that never ends!!!!!! But, they won - yeah - and it’s about time some N. LA teams beat those guys in S. LA. Got to sneak in early morning run with one of the other soccer dads yesterday morning and ran longer run later that afternoon in-between games - so sweaty dad to go along with sweaty son!!
Son rode home with mom in other car, so drove my hot rod car home way too fast from Alexandria (while enjoying loud classic rock n roll music), but no police intervention! Doing my part to keep gas prices up!!
Got home in time to clean up and watch LSU ladies blow it against Tenn - exciting game though.
Back to work this morning - what a beautiful day - did get out with buddies and ran at lunchtime!!!
April 7th, 2008 at 7:04 pm
George, you need a name for your ilk…something that denotes soccer dads sneaking in a run in between games.
April 7th, 2008 at 8:22 pm
The Lady Tigers are snakebit.

April 10th, 2008 at 5:27 am
Can you grill calamari? That wouldn’t work would it?
April 10th, 2008 at 5:38 am
Why yes, rt. I usually put it directly on the grill, along with items like shredded carrots and blueberries. Of course, it all falls straight onto the coals.
