Team Nation - Casey Habich

Hometown: Born and kind of sort of raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. We moved a lot.

Job Title: News Photographer/Web Bitch

Talents: I think it’s hilarious when people get skills and talents confused. Think about it. Talents of mine include: swallowing fire, juggling, tight rope walking, lion taming. Did I say we moved around a lot? My family is in the circus. I guess I have a knack for understanding technology. I’m a computer geek. I also play the trumpet.

Where else can we reach you on the web: www.myspace.com/cehabich

Favorite thing about your job: Geez what’s not to like? Constant deadlines, long hours, hot days in summer. No really I love my job. I am workaholic. We go through a similar process daily but our content changes so its always different and you get to meet some great and very inspiring people. Sounds cheesy but it’s true.

Who/what inspires you: People with a strong and strict work ethic. I truly do admire people who take pride in who they are and what they do. Sometimes it seems that the people who do are in the minority.

Your family: ooowee mi familia. Pienso tengo una familia grande. My parents, Arthur and Beth Habich, have been married forever, which is cool because that’s rare these days. I have 3 other siblings, 2 older 1 younger, all of them sisters. In order by age: Meggie, Katie, and Bonny. They’ve managed to incorporate a couple of brother in-laws, Alex and John. Now between the 3 sisters there are 7, that’s right, 7 nieces and nephews age 5 and under. Madison, Ian, Kennedy, Ellie, Aiden, Reese, and Evy. No kids of thy own. HALLELUJAH! Just 2 dogs. Oh yeah! I almost forgot Erin. Not really, best for last right? Erin is my fiancée. Were in the planning stages of gettin’ hitched. Vegas maybe. These people are very important to me.

Anything people might be surprised to learn about you: I have webbed toes, just like a duck. I was banned from competing as a swimmer in the summer Olympics. Ok seriously ummm…… I am phenomenal dancer. Just ask around.

Favorite food: That’s easy. CORN! Corn on the cob, corn off the cob, cream corn, grilled corn, corn niblets, corn soufflé, corn hash, corn chips, corn tortillas, grits. If it’s a form of corn I’ll eat it, but not if it’s Nebraskan corn. Oh and potatoes.

Nickname: My friends call me Lucky. Not because I am but they think I look like a leprechaun.

Favorite book: I’ll wait for the movie, only because I like eating mass quantities of popcorn in large, dim lit rooms. A favorite childhood book of mine is Where the Wild Things Are. My mom would read it to me.

Favorite saying: “Oh snap!”

Biggest challenge: Growing up was tough. I’m still growing up but I think I made it out of the briar patch. Things are beautiful now.
