Survivor Walk

The survivor walk is traditionally the kickoff to the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life.  I recorded this last night at Lee Hedges Stadium in Shreveport.

This is a celebration of life.  As these people walk by, know that some have been in remission for many years, some are wonders (a 22-year-old woman with cancer of the womb was told she would never have children.  You can see her one-year-old daughter walking with her) and for many, it took all the energy they could muster to make it to the track as they are undergoing chemotherapy.

All of these people are brave and inspiring.

As a survivor who has made that walk I can tell you it’s very emotional.

On a lighter note, did Carl Liberto have a beer is his pocket?

I can’t view the video here at StJude, the network peeps here are worse than the ones in the AirForce! My daughters’ surgery was Thursday and the PT crazies made her walk today… they don’t mess around. She is a tough cookie and seems to be doing pretty darn good!

G, please tell your daughter we’re pulling for her.

shall do… me and the boys are going to let her rest and make our way over to Memphis in May, lots-o-music!
