Sunday Morning Obstacle Course
This isn’t what I envisioned when I went to bed last night.Â
Am I dreaming, or is that a familiar meow I hear off in the distance?
Spuff (my wayward calico cat) is on the roof next door. 
I have to venture outside (before coffee) to get her down using a huge painting of myself I keep handy for this occasion. Spuff slides down the painting. It’s quite the neighorhood spectacle.Â
Finally, a chance to make coffee.Â
%$!@#. No coffee filters!Â
Fine, I’ll use a paper towel, which I can’t form just right for the purpose. Mmm. crunchy coffee. 
Finally, a moment to gather myself. Oh, but no. Spuff proceeds to throw up on the coffee table, hitting a nice Italian book while she’s at it. Then, she just walks off like, “Clean that up, will ya?” More paper towels. And solvents! At this point, I’m looking for the environmental police to show up. 
Or at least Al Gore.Â
 While I have compassion for the environment and Spuff (you’d throw up, too, if you spent the night on the roof next door), I know that by the time I get back from my run, Spuff and Al Gore had better have this place spotless!

Spuff is getting pretty chunky. Maybe she has body image issues. That would explain the vomiting.

I’m going to talk with her today about being proud of who she is and not comparing herself to those sleek felines in the Whiskas ads. What an unrealistic expectation we place on our pets. We need a Dove commercial for cats that puts forth the value of being real!

first thing…..leave spuff up there till you have coffee. cats have no sense of the passing of time. she doesent know if shes up there 4 min or 4 hours. why does she keep climbing up places she needs to be rescued from? what trauma in her kittenhood caused this need to ‘act out’ for attention? look into your on life and figure out what is the symbolism of using a painting of yourself to rescue the cat. has the cat been to a art appreciation class? would the cat slide down a painting of al gore? does spuff perfer oil or water color?
now coffee…….forget the electric coffee makers….buy a ‘french press’. yes, it is a coffee maker and also a term for a exotic love making technique. but right now im talking about coffee! you can buy them in 2 cup or 4 cup models. a tall glass cylinder in a metal frame with a push down grounds strainer. put a tablespoon of coffee in the french press and add boiling water. let it set for a few minutes and you have the freshest coffee you have ever had.
unlike a elec coffee maker which never gets hot enough to release all the coffee flavors. never a need to buy filters. you make a fresh cup every time. no more coffee getting stale on the warmer of a mr. coffee.

off the subject……a old girlfriend from vicksburg came by last night. she likes to sleep in my old t-shirts. i let her sleep in the hazel & jimmy tee i won last week. it covers up most of her tattoos. i dont know if it was the h&j shirt or that we hadent seen each other in a while, but savage lovin ensued! she left early in route to ft. worth after a cup of good coffee from the french press. yes, im washing the shirt. shes in her late 20’s and im in my late 50’s….u do the math…..im kind of draggin around today…

Sher, paper towels will work but you have to cut them to shape, otherwise you get the resulting crunchy cup you have displayed here.

I have one up on ya, last night I was taking a bath when all of a sudden my 17 y/o cat was being chased by the dogs and came flying in the tub with me. Where’s candid camera when ya need one.

Tommy! Great advice! I got a french press coffee gizmo and the coffee tastes great! Not as acidic and extremely fresh! Thanks!
