Merry Christmas, HRB!
These are two of my favorite Christmas pictures from kidhood. The four of us in OKC with Danny’s stocking second from left (note HRB). Danny insisted on being called Herb, with it being spelled HRB. He would get very angry if you called him Danny or used a vowel when spelling Herb. The other pic features Chris and Suzie in Upstate NY and the shag carpet we had to rake regularly.

Chris looks good in that turtleneck/training diaper combo. Always has been ahead of his time fashionably.

I was stylin. I still wear the turtleneck/training diaper combo from time to time.

Suzie looks like John Denver.

The way I remember it, chris and suzie didn’t get along so well, unless there was a camera. Suddenly they went all smiles and acted like loving siblings. After the flash it was hair pulling, spitting, kicking…

Wait, that was not Danny, it was HRB

Sher, you look like That Girl (Marlo Thomas)…with a little bit of “Mary Richards” thrown in.

I wish I had a brother growing up,

Me, too, Mel!

The only way to interpret that is to assume that you have not started growing up yet. Either that, or Chris and I were born as females in which case you only had sisters growing up. Either way, it’s sad.

Oh, Bro, let me present another way to interpret, “I wish I had a brother growing up.” What if I meant that you and Chris were already grown and oh, how I longed for a brother as sweet as thou who hath not yet grown. How ’bout that?

No, I’m going with the “born a woman” theory.

I wanted an older brother who I thought would look after me but I’m thinking it probably wouldn’t have worked out that way. I am the oldest of three girls.
