Actually it makes me reflect on my new workplace where we are not allowed to page..and when we are paged by the receptionist, we are paged by a number. I am no longer Colleen…I am 2271! Took me over a year to stop fighting that fight.
But…really if I think about it, I can remember making station-wide pages…IN A PLACE OF BUSINESS mind you…that would go something like; “Sparkles call 856 please.” or “Spider Monkey you are needed in the newsroom.” or “T-Bone dial *63.” or “Jason Weimar report to the mens room..they are out of toilet paper.” Usually these were done for the delight of a newsroom tour group.
