Geaux “Craw” Fish!
National reports say crawfish prices are up because of rising fuel costs.  Â
Come on back home.Â
Rhonda Outlaw at Shaver’s Crawfish and Catering just told me prices for the crustaceans are on the way back down! “Business is good,” said Outlaw.
March, April and May are typically the best months for crawfish.
Does it bother you when someone calls them “crawdads” or “crayfish”?  It’s like saying “soda pop”.  If you’re gonna go and talk like that, y’ain’t from ’round here, are ya?Â

Ok, when I was on my honeymoon (rolls eyes) “CRAYfish” was on EVERY menu. Yes, “CRAYfish”
It turned that CRAYfish wasn’t “crawfish” at all, gurl. CRAYfish were more like lobsters…only…not.
What’s next I ask you?!??!?!?

Oh and P.S.-I hate it when people say “sneakers”…or “gym shoes”…they are called “TENNIS SHOES” or “RUNNING SHOES” for gosh sake!
Yes, I run in my tennis shoes and “tennis” in my running shoes…so shoot me.

That’s ok, Lindsay. I drive on the parkway and park in a driveway.

Using the word Crawdads doesn’t bother me as much as crayfish does, ugh.
Soda Pop and Sneakers are also offensive.
Take this quiz and find out how Southern your speech is.

My score came out 100% Dixie. Should I be proud? LOL!

I can handle “crawdads”, but not “crayfish”.
Here(Lafayette AKA “The Lafs”), the crawfish don’t appear to be as large this year.
Soda pop?! I’ve been known to pronounce “soda water(so-dee wa-tuh)” like The American Dream, Dusty Rhodes.

I once threw a crawfish boil during a Talley family reunion at my dad’s house. I purged the little fishies in a kiddie pool, had the pots rollin’. I basically had it goin’ on.
With one exception. I had double the amount of cajun seasoning.
Talley lore has it there’s a hole in my dad’s driveway where someone dropped a crawfish.

All I know is “I could die!” — reference to being allergic to crawfish and a bad Mardi Gras experience a few years ago!

Jody! Memories! I’m still remorseful about playing a part in almost killing you. You know that, don’t you? I’d be short a commenter!

I have been jonsing for some crawfish. I’ve also been feeling the urge to go to a casino. I feel a trip to Shreveport coming on. You should have a sherritalley.com crawfish boil in your backyard before it gets ridiculously hot.
Check out the size of the “crayfish” down under.

Yea, Me and CT and our ho’s was kikkin’ it down on the water. No crawdad’s, but lots of minnows and catfish. I found some beautiful lakefront property I want to purchase, but the wife says it’s “too rural”, and she’s from Selma!
March 17th, 2008 at 9:31 pm
is Selma near Bodcau Dam…..round here “rural” is gettin scarce…real estate is going fast…with us goin all cyber-tech-web-net- outta the stoneage
March 18th, 2008 at 8:33 am
Selma is deep deep in the heart of the old south, and very rural. That’s all I know. I try not to visit too often.

They grow good sisters-in-law there.

At our crawfish boils we cook chicken also. We put whole chickens in panty hose and cook them in the boil. We also put corn, potatoes, carrots, mushrooms, and whole garlic.

Another reason I’m looking forward to Sparky’s profile in a future “Team Nation”!

Had a crawfish boil this past Saturday. They were a buck-sixty at Farmers Seafood, and the perfect size. I buy my boil from Shavers, but their crawfish is too expensive.
Sherri, we purge ours in a kiddie pool too! Works Great!
