Dog Meat In Beijing and A Fingernail Advantage

Swimmer Erika Stewart is representing Columbia in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.  Her father, a friend of mine, got married this weekend in NC, so I took the chance to ask Erika a couple of important Olympics-related issues.

Erika is one of my favorite people! She is smart-incredible athletic-kind and sweet and beautiful! What a life she has in front of her!!!

How about Dara Torres qualifying for Beijing at the age of 41??!!!

She’ll be the first U.S. swimmer to compete in FIVE Olympics. Her first was in L.A. back in ‘84. That is staggering!!

My favorite Olympic swimmer of all time, however, is Miss Amanda Beard.

    For obvious reasons.

What about Janet Evans and her unconventional stroke. She owned in the water but it looked like she wasted so much time with her awkward stroke.

I hear Dara Torres gets two massages a day and stretches like there’s no tomorrow. Joe Haynes and I were talking yesterday about how crucial that may be for the performance of older athletes. She’s amazing.
