Ask Hazel and Jimmy

Q:  It can happen anywhere, but what if you’re at work and someone touches you inappropriately?

A:  Any of the following would be an effective course of action.

1.   Stop, drop and roll.

2.  Ask for a promotion.

3.  Start singing “Oklahoma”.

4.  Duck and cover.

5.  Touch them back.

Sherri - the answer to this is quite obvious, I think. STOP, DROP, AND ROLL!!!!!! OF COURSE!!! :)

  2. jchristie Says:

I think the answer is dependent upon who’s touching me.

  3. Nick C. Says:

Would the person touching you stop, drop and roll with you?

Brings Happy Hour a bit early.

  4. Sherri Says:

    Ha!

I agree with JC. As luck (or lack there of) has it; this very incident happened to me just today, involving a member of the same sex as me! My instincts kicked in and… remembering something I had heard on KTBS 3 News, I started screaming (attracting attention) & flailing my appendages and attempted to run away. Luckily there were semi-alert co-workers nearby who heard my cries for help and looked at me like I was having a siezure; which quickly stopped said offensive action by the perp who immediately fled the scene. I am now seeking psychological couseling and will be in out-patient rehab for several weeks. Thanks in advance to all concerned about well-being. Lesson learned?: BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS!!!!

Yes, Big M. And next time, leave your purse locked in your trunk.

Depending on the situation, I’ll generally go with option #3 or 5 or a combination of both with a just a smidgen of option #1.

  8. HRB Says:

If someone touches me inappropriately at work or any other place, I’ll either encourage more touching or deck them, depending on what they look like.

  9. Mel Says:

Instead of the promotion I’d ask for a raise and less work for keeping my mouth shut.
