Are You Kidding Me?

Let’s face it.  If we’re going to go green (not Louisiana lawmaker green), we’re going to need to change the way we dress.  I’m about to start taking my bike to work regularly (more on that later).   Think about it…100-degrees, humidity galore, working up a sweat.  Something has to give on the fashion front.  I’ll call it “Business A-Tire”.  Or not.

Anyway, want to know what I think?  The Businessbib is nothing but a front, not to mention goofy.  Why pretend?  Can’t we make it more acceptable to dress a tad more casual to be practical for our lifestyles?

What if, when I start biking to work, I didn’t wear a blazer on the set?  Would you be offended?  Would you care?  Would you deem me any less credible?  There are some OCD types who get upset when an anchor’s hair part changes to the other side.

More later on the dress aspects and other details of communting to work in a more environmentally conscious way.

I have always thought that anchors/reporters should dress more casual, for this day and age. Plus, it makes you more ‘personal’ to the viewers…and you don’t look all up tight and serious…just don’t go wearing jeans all the time (ed walsh) or firecracker 5K t-shirts

It just seems silly to me to go out in the hot sun to do a story while wearing a silk-lined blazer that’s sticking to you. We already spend so much time on makeup that, if we had that time back, it would be enough for us to come up with a solution to world peace! I’d rather spend more time on the more important aspects of my job.

good point! and some up at the station(they have blonde hair and not married to the news director) lol, spend enough time worrying about what to wear and how their makeup looks. It would give them more time to worry about how to make their package under two minutes. I love this blog! ha good place to dig, yet not truly mean it

oh, why is it out of all the other ktbs bolg sites…you are the only one who has a jim roberts link? hmm

SAL, I got to thinking about this…is it really anything new? I was thinking in my head (tee heh) and maybe I am about to pull the curtain back and reveal the wizard here, about Al Pierce, who famously used to wear a jacket, shirt and tie……..and fleece jogging pants and tennis shoes! What the viewer doesn’t see below the desk doesn’t hurt them!

I hate to see a reporter out in the field or in a live shot where it is hot, raining, fire, or the disaster of the day…wearing a suit.

  7. CT Says:

It would be hilarious to wear one of those suit tops in the video to work with nothing else on.

Apparently the naked news is popular in Europe but that wouldn’t go so well here in the bible belt. I thought about riding my bike to work but same problem with heat and humidity it isn’t so good for a salesman plus I have to much pride to ride my bike on the highway. And it makes no sense to me that you wouldn’t dress like any other professional woman would which doesn’t mean a suit. You and Jody and Chrissi would all look cute just dressing like you would normally dress I think, you all seem to be pretty down. I get tired of you all wearing the big necklaces that all look the same personally.

kimmy: Trish, Gerry and Redford have Jim Roberts blog on their sites… and have had it since Jim got his site. He got his site later, so maybe the others haven’t realised they don’t have it.

And, Sher, it doesn’t matter what you wear… Viewers love you… not how you dress. I personally like it when you had your hurt foot and wore cowboy boots (although-I’m sorry your foot was hurt).
But, be glad they can’t smell you through the TV when you start biking… (I’m glad I won’t be sitting next to SWEATY SHERRI ALLEN TALLEY on those days– Good Luck Elizabeth!) Just Kidding!

Your blog is AWESOME… I love to see what’s new on here! Keep it up!

Sherri, just yesterday a woman stopped me when I was out on a story and wanted to know why we always have to wear blazers. (I was standing out in 90 degree heat at the time in one because I had to cut a stand-up) I told her we were always told it made us ‘look more professional.’ I think viewers will tend to disagree. You know how hard it is to even find suits these days! It’s a business casual world!

  11. sherri Says:

I agree. Wonder if our male co-anchors would take it down a notch. Hmmm, maybe we could raise the set a tad and they could wear the businessbib!

  12. sherri Says:

me, I don’t know who you are, but thank you for the kind words.

  13. BrilloBrain Says:

    Sherri,

I agree the blazers and polyester suits look like poop (1970’s poop, at that)! Maybe as a transition, you could all dress like Starship Enterprise crew members (make Chris wear the Vulcan pointy ears). I think maybe channel 12 has beat you to the punch, tho’ - they already have a Klingon doing the noon news!

    Your decidedly un-PC friend,
    BB

Personally I think you look good in anything. At times I have seen you at Albertsons after playing softball or working out. So obviously you would look good wearing a trash bag. Above that it’s your personality and caring way you do your job, not how you dress
