Practice what this holiday season? Take two.
Thursday, November 27th, 2008There’s a serious message here. Also, given the nature of this blog, I thought you’d find my editing error amusing. Have a happy and SAFE Thanksgiving!
Something to be thankful for
Tuesday, November 25th, 2008Fine…I already know you guys like the zany stuff and the not-so-serious-stuff, but this just happened and I’m putting it up here anyway because it’s Thanksgiving week and I’m really happy for Teresa, one of the kids I profile on ArkLaTex Angels. She’s among the 50% we profile who get placed in permanent homes. Teresa was one of the children who rode on the KTBS float tonight in the Bossier Christmas Parade, which one of our commenters, Mel, helped organize. Here she is with her new mom. Happy Thanksgiving, Teresa and your new family!

Monday, November 24th, 2008Dressing drama
Saturday, November 22nd, 2008
I lost a recipe for dressing that I’ve perfected over the years. Please don’t tell the people I’m feeding on Thanksgiving. I’m going to try to remember it.
Here goes. I know the ingredients, just not the measurements.
The cornbread: White corn meal, eggs, oil, cream corn, sour cream. Cook it and crumle it up.
Mix with: Chicken broth, more eggs, crumbled slices of white bread, chicken breast, onions and celery that were sauted in a stick of real butter, sage, salt and pepper to taste.
I have that feeling that something’s missing. What could it be? What would you add this year?
Take Five
Thursday, November 20th, 2008
While we’re on the subject of taking five (see title of song in previous post), what would you do or not do for a million dollars?
This subject fascinates me because every male I’ve talked with about this would do far more than I would consider doing…cutting off fingers, lying, etc. Is it a male/female difference in values? Or, maybe my random survey isn’t scientific enough.
To the beat of a different time
Tuesday, November 18th, 2008I’m somehow drawn to this and can’t get enough. Thanks, CT, for the link. Watch through the drummer, at least.
Leaving Louisiana in the broad daylight
Monday, November 17th, 2008
Census Bureau numbers show that in the past 27 years, Louisiana has lost about 84 residents a day, or about four an hour.
Governor Bobby Jindal says you can’t blame the migration on Hurricane Katrina or any other storm. He says people are leaving because of the lack of educational and economic opportunities in the state and that he and his peeps are going to fix that.
Why are you here? Why are you not here?
