Geaux “Craw” Fish!

National reports say crawfish prices are up because of rising fuel costs.

Come on back home.

Rhonda Outlaw at Shaver’s Crawfish and Catering just told me prices for the crustaceans are on the way back down!  “Business is good,” said Outlaw.

March, April and May are typically the best months for crawfish.

Does it bother you when someone calls them “crawdads” or “crayfish”?  It’s like saying “soda pop”.   If you’re gonna go and talk like that, y’ain’t from ’round here, are ya?

Police statistics requested by the Free Press confirm that the Mondays after the springtime change are worse than usual for traffic crashes.

On that cheery note, after a week of reminding viewers to spring forward, I was an hour late everywhere I went yesterday and just now realized it was because I haven’t changed my clocks.

Is Daylight Saving Time really necessary?

This is me getting measured at the weigh-in for our media fitness competition.  As we continue training, I couldn’t help but notice the ample amount of confidence coming from The Times competitors.

RL3:  I know, let’s have a media softball game where you’re at bat.  You really want to get on base.  So, you step up to the plate and decide you’re going to slam it as hard as you can to the only girl on the other team (me, playing second base).  Then, I snag it on the hop and throw you out at first with enough time for you to stop and order a pizza before you get halfway down the baseline.  Oh, wait.  That already happened.

Is that all you got?  :)

How much can a girl take?

First, Roy Lang, from The Times, one of my fitness competitors, drives by when I’m running and tells me he’s off to a personal trainer.  Since I have a real job, all I have time for is a short run and a quick weight session in my garage.  And since I found out yesterday that we have to do the male version of pushups, I’m hurting right now.  But I’ll be ready on May 10th.

Roy is pictured above, flanked by The Times’ Val Horvath and Nishia Livingston.   “The News Team” can so take them.   And I don’t mean “The News Team” from the movie, Anchorman.

Then, as I begin to take a picture of my desk for “Jake”, my on-air makeup spills and laughter ensues from my co-workers, including executive producer Clay Kirby (pictured).

All I have to say is, Times News Team, obstacles are those pesky little things you see when you take your eyes off your goal.  Redford and I are so focused on you!

Cubicle Chaos

(L to R) Fletch’s desk, items on cpb’s desk, cpb’s cool desk, Redford’s wardrobe on his desk, Erin Moore’s neat desk, Jody’s desk.

Work in a box?  We work in cubicles, primarily so we can communicate freely with each other.  In the chaos that ensues via the nature of our work, sometimes our work areas are lacking in decor.  We thought you might have some ideas for items we can use to decorate our cubicles.

Fitness Fest

It’s on.

A fitness challenge was issued to the local media for Fit For Life Day.

Our weigh-in was today.  The competition is May 10th.

Crime Team reporter Chris Redford (pictured at today’s weigh-in) and I will represent KTBS.   The other competitors (from The Times, KSLA and KTAL) will be pictured here later as we update you on training efforts.

As a runner, I was clearly lacking in the strength department during today’s weigh-in.  Much work to do.  Will keep you posted.

Crazy ’bout a Mercury

This was LindsAy’s first car.

Let’s do three firsts.  Your first car, first pet and first job.

My first car was a Mercury.  My first pet was Archie, a miniature dachshund.  For my first job, I worked as a maid in a motel in Upstate New York.Â
